Idealliance CEO Baechle Meets with New Global Office, Service Providers, Brands and OEMs During Visit to Taiwan
9-Day Visit included delivering keynote at TIGAX Exhibition and supporting Idealliance Taiwan, 3rd Party standards & certification audit lab with think tank’s global office in Taipei.
Alexandria, Va. (October 09, 2018) –Idealliance CEO Timothy Baechle stressed the organization’s fundamental commitment to service to our worldwide industry during a 9-day visit to Taiwan and Idealliance’s newest global office in Taipei last month. Idealliance is a non-profit industry think tank with 12 strategically located offices around the world. It is recognized by ISO as the industry’s foremost certifying body for competencies, systems, materials, and facilities and the world’s foremost contributor to ISO standards.
“We had an extremely full week of meetings with the amazing, very welcoming people of Taiwan,” says Baechle. “We are delighted to be able to serve them in their beautiful country and further our commitment to being globally present, globally local.
“We were invited to meet with partners, service providers, brand owners, and OEMs during our time in Taiwan, including CymMetrik, the largest CPG service provider in Greater China, a company that runs an Idealliance G7® Color Management System workflow across their entire supply chain,” notes Baechle. “We had an opportunity to meet with them and others regarding the work we’re doing around the world in certifications, standards, specifications, and other services we provide to the industry, especially our commitment to being physically present in-country. There is no better way to understand the needs of a market, region or company than serving them locally.”
“Idealliance has long wanted to serve people in the industry in Taiwan and we were lucky enough to have an incredible individual, Fred Hsu, to lead our activities here as Managing Director of our office in Taipei, the latest addition to our global offices around the world,” he says.
“Fred has been deeply part of Idealliance’s initiatives for many years,” Baechle continues, noting Hsu’s long involvement “in the work of the Idealliance Print Properties & Colorimetric Council and GRACoL Working Group, where he was not only instrumental in the development of U.S. and international standards, but also participated in writing them.”
Hsu served for seven years at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he helped continue the great work of the Printing Applications Lab (PAL), led the assessment software development team, and created, managed and conducted Idealliance certification audits. He now helped to establish an independent and 3rd party Printing Standards Audit lab at Chinese Culture University, where independent 3rd party audits can be conducted for Idealliance certifications. Idealliance strongly believes in 3rd party auditor establishment as it sets the benchmark for policy, procedure, protocol, conformance, and accountability.
A graduate of Chinese Culture University, Hsu holds master’s degrees in printing technology from RIT and graphic communications management and technology from New York University.
“To have someone of Fred’s level of expertise in printing, from the colorimetric, metrology, printing processes and workflows to creative design, certifications and standards depth of knowledge, is an incredible benefit to Idealliance and all the people we serve in Taiwan,” says Baechle.
While in Taipei, Baechle also delivered an address at TIGAX 2018, the Taipei International Graphic Arts Exhibition. He was joined in the keynote presentation on specifications, standards, and the global importance of color management by Hye-Jeong Ahn, Managing Director of the Idealliance Southeast Asia and Korea office in Seoul, and Nelson Luk, Director of Time, Inc., who spoke on the incredible importance of standards and specifications.
